PostPost by: Vanden Perre » Sun Jul 27, 2014 6:22 pm

Hello,
Can someone advice please?
Will a battery with a charge of 30 Ah and a 300 A cold cranking ampere be enough for a week end only used S3?
Regards.
Olivier.

Probably if the car is in a good state of tune. Personally I prefer a battery with more reserve.

I like a little more too... a 520A 52Ah for me (Bosch S5001). Needs a bit of wood to brace it into the original clamp as it's not as wide as whatever went in there originally.

I use a standard 037 battery - I don't think they do an uprated one with flat terminals - only ?38.

The car has standard Lucas starter and dynamo and a mechanical pump - Infrequent (not often!) use at the moment so I charge it occasionally. Always cranks strongly while the fuel and oil are pumped-up and then starts on the button.

Hi Oliver,
I'm going through the same problem myself and if you look a few posts further down you'll see my thread (Sprint Battery) where I've had a few suggestions as to what's the best battery to use.
The one that stands out to me is the Odyssey PC680 which I think I'll be purchasing, it seems there are very few batteries now available with the original Ford mounting posts so it looks like I'll be changing to round type when I get my battery.
