Ever since fitting accuspark ignition trigger ( no control box or special coil) the rev counter reading bears no relation to the engine revs plus it bounces all over the place. Any body know the answer ? Please no guessing ,might be. Just the facts would be great thanks. John

There are several topics where the rev counter has been discussed recently.

In a nutshell:

The new sensor has changed the shape of the pulses in the coil you may need to get your rev counter converted to voltage sensing instead of current sensing.

It is possible to get it to work reliably.
Make sure all of the connections are good from ignition to coil, rev counter etc.
adjust the size and position of the loop of wire

Also with a current sensing tacho dont power the electronic ignition from the positive terminal of the coil as the instructions typically show as the tacho then also picks up the power pulses that go to the electronics in addition to the power pulse that are powering the ignition coil.

John, I just went through this, there is info on the board but in summary I did the following:

1. Fitted the Spiyda RVI --> RVC tacho conversion available at www.spiyda.com
2. Connected the 2 white wires that went to the tacho together
3. Ran a new wire from the Coil -ve terminal to the tacho.

Works perfectly now!

Phil, that looks like a great product. I sent mine away to Nisonger for conversion, but this looks like a similar DIY solution. The Nisonger conversion was $360 and about six weeks turnaround if you don't feel up to the tach disassembly.

Thanks for sharing. Had not seen that option before.

If you're not handy with a soldering iron they will do the conversion for you for a total of $85 plus shipping. The instructions do not mention adding a resistor on the input...

I used their Tech support & even being 3200 miles away it was great!
