On my S3 Elan, the washer/wiper knob has a little hole in one side, which you can press with a thin rod and then pull the knob off. You can rotate the control until the hole is easy to see and get at.
The mechanism is obvious once you get the knob off, so you will understand it better the next time you need to do it.

I did mean yours Bill. I found the hole, but have been trying to get a small screwdriver in there. A little knowledge.............
