Welll....it was just ?39.99 :)

Just picked up a car radio from Lild for ?39.99.

It doesn't have a CD player so is nice and short and fits into my +2's Radio Dash hole which I had blanked off.

Up to now I've had a nice radio installed under the dash above the passenger footwell. And it has been fine.
But I've always felt a little guilty that the passenger was not getting the full space they should in the car.
And it looked...well...out of place....

While the radio does not have a CD player is will play media through via front USB port, front jack and behind panel SD Card slot.

It will only turn on when the ignition is on.

While the sound will not be as good as my Balupunkt it replaces.....a Lotus cabin is hardly a HiFi environment :)

Cabin and dash look a bit 'neater' now :)

Thanks for posting, looks like I might be heading to Lidl when am in the UK next week! Been considering/looking for a radio for the +2 and this look like it might do the job well.

Can you post the make/model? Might be worth seeing if it can be obtain elsewhere for people with out a local Lidl.

It's a SilverCrest (A sort of Lidl ownbrand).

Made by Kompernass (?).

I think this is the one (I'll check and post here if it's different):

Oh! I'm in Ireland so the same offer may not be on in the UK at this time.

And....it's from last week (Thursday?). Just happens that there's still a lot left in store here.
So....after procrastinating for a week I bit the bullet and bought one this morning :)

Salut

There was a thread a little while ago about +2 compatible radios. I bought a cheap Claber and you get what you pay for. There's a Sony that looks interesting and not too expensive (less tha ?100 I think) and at the top end you have the Parrot Asteroid. Whilst in Norauto today (A French Halfords) I saw a Kenwood that looked like it would fit.

Plus the specialist brands/conversions - isn't there a US brand?

Stateside I imagine the Sony would be easy to find.

Thanks Guys. This post made me go look at amazon, seems to be a decent JVC head unit on there that would work (JVC KDX250BT ~$90), right size, FM, SD, USB, AUX and Bluetooth. Gets pretty good review unlike a lot of the cheaper ($30/40) units. So may well be worth spending the extra.

I think I did come across the/a thread on +2 radios. I had a look around based on it but it was mostly radio that are hard to get hold off or expensive. It's looking like more and more options are coming to market now as people are moving away from CD's. Which is very handy!

To be honest it's not a major thing at the minute, have to get the car back on the road and ready for longer trips before I worry too much about radio. It's just nice to know there are a few options around.
