Small braided earth lead around dash area S4

PostPost by: terryp » Mon Jun 17, 2013 9:43 am

Hello
Just getting my new dash in and I remembered that when I tiook the old one out there was a small approx 7mm wide x 250mm long braided earth strap loose in front of the heater area
Is it original and to earth the heater which must be earthed anyway vis the bracket on top of the chassis mounting bolts?
or is it just an extra earth that someone has added or something else

Thanks

Terry

Hmmm, I don't recall one of them. Is it perhaps the main earth strap from a junction where all the instrument's earthing black wires meet to be actually connected to the chassis?

Thanks Bill, that would ring true as I removed the speedo first so it may have dropped off the back fixings when I undid them
In any event I think it seems like a logical place for it. as you can't get enough earthing!

Thanks again

I've reviewed all of my "back of dash" photos (taken during disassembly).
I see no braided wire (braided-style ground strap) attached to the dashboard.
