Who knows if this alternator is correct to replace the one I have on the +2 ? I haven't found any cross ref between Lucas ACR and Valeo
The ad claims it can fit on a Cortina and the ref is 2941231 45 Amp

it appears to be wrong-handed can you change it like you can the ACR?

The photo from the rear appears to be reverse handed of the front photo. Otherwise it looks like a replacement for a standard Lucas alternator.

With this type of alternator it is often possible to reverse the adding. Undo the three nuts and long bolts and remove. Carefully and slowly rotate the front face relative to the rear and replace the long bolts. Don't pull the front face away from the rear face or the brushes will come off the end of the commutator and you'll make yourself further, unnecessary, work.
You may need to drill the lower front attachment hole (was previously the belt tensioning adjustment hole) to allow the lower bolt to fit in. You will need to use a bolt and nut at the tensioning point, rather than just a bolt.

so my understanding is this one is supposed to be fitted on the opposite engine side.
according to the advert it is a new old stock for 50 euros

You need a Lucas A125 Franck - go check eBay.

The Lucas A127 was a replacement for the 15/17ACR's etc where the rectifier packs kept breaking down. The A127 was used in automotive, marine, and industrial applications, and is a better unit than the ACRs, lightweight too. And the rectifier back is screw-on, screw-off.

Oh, and they are not handed! Just release the 3-thro' bolts and rotate the drive-end to the 'hand' you require... Simples!
