S4 Federal Headlamp Operating Rod - info required

This is one of my missing parts and I have a few people looking for one but as yet no one has one.
The other problem is that apart from the parts manual I don't even know what it looks like!

Does anyone have a photo or better still if you are restoring the car and have the piece off some dimensions as I think its going to have to be made up.

Its the rod that fits between the pods, rather like the later+2 failsafe design.
Ray at RD has the small anti rattle joints/ rods that connect onto it so I am OK there.

Thanks again

Terry
PS In the parts book its plate BL BL22 036 B 1658 Rod, Operating

Terry, here's the rod and its length. One of Ray's links at attached, as you can see. Let me know if you need any other dimensions.

Thanks Greg, at least I know what I am looking for now. I'll give it a few weeks trying to find one and then if I may I'll come back and ask for more dimensions to hopefully fabricate one

Cheers
Terry
PS Anyone have a spare?

Oops one thing Greg, Ray's links are very very nice but by the time they get to me with import tax and everything they will be the best part of $130
What do you think of these? ....and can you measure the link so I can check they are OK?

Nice alternative! Ray's link, as currently adjusted to my specs, is 110mm (thereabouts). The stud size going into the headlight pod and rod is 3/16" (6mm?) but the hole in the rod is 1/4", so a bit of leeway there. On the ebay item, looks like you can cut down the turnbuckle if it ends up being too long.

Thanks Greg,
So 6mm may be a little big (?) and the ends would have to be sorted
So what about these ....

&

I think they may be a real alternative?

I think I would stick to the entire turnbuckle with joints and come up with a nut and bolt arrangment with spacers to go through the holes in the heim joints. The studs on this one:

look a bit short. One of the ends would have to be spaced out to keep the heim joints from binding.

Armed with a drawing containing Greg's measurements we have just spent 15 minutes with our local artisan ..... and the answer was OUI!
Only problem will be the bar will be 17mm and not 18mm but I think it may have a thicker wall thickness.
So fingers crossed in a couple of weeks ......months....years we may have our part, or something that looks vaguely like it!
Thanks to Greg for the info.
