Jeff I would get the mega squirt you can run the Edis and you have the facility to go FI in the future and the cost difference is not vast

Hi John,
Thanks for the link to the Ford mag. Very interesting.
Hi Ian,
Thanks for the tip on going Megasquirt. I probably would not go the full blown FI route just yet, but of course it could be an option in the future. To keep costs down I may well lay out the circuit for the meagasquirt on my own PCB and get it assembled. Just have to obtain the software and fiddle around with the mapping.
As mentioned in the Ford Mag article hopefully will make the Elan a bit more responsive with a smoother tickover.

Thanks for the help.
Kind regards
Jeff

Salut Jeff

Where did you go with this? I can solder too, and would be interested and grateful if you have a PCB design to share (especially if you chose the Magajolt). I haven't read up on the on-board programming but I suppose this can be done through the serial port -if not I'd need help there, too!

I haven't been able to find much on the net - there are lots of TAI and some (multispark or not) CDI - and a Silicon Chips project from 2007 that could have been interesting if it wasn't for the difficulty of obtaining the controller part.

Merci et @+
