On my 1969 +2 the parking lights (side lights) are switched independently using a switch on the dash. The switch actuates a relay which energizes the lights. If my memory is correct the switch is spring loaded and it sets the relay and returns to neutral.

Find the correct wiring diagram for your +2 and have a look.
