Dear All,
Have access to the attached rare Lucus part.
I am sure with a few Lotus owners having had the wrath of the "prince of darkness" a few of us may be interested in a group purchase of the attached, you may never know when you may run out.

What a great idea. It's far superior to the industrial vacuum I've been using to capture the smoke; it's very difficult on a windy day!

Inxs,

count me in!

I have been looking for this under the Lotus part number X 0 50D1t. It was common across the Lotus range and standard on earlier cars.

I contacted the factory and they told me that it was no longer available. They are thinking of getting some made, but it will be very expensive. I have heard that I can make my own, but that it can turn black if you get it on the bodywork.

Do you think that the Lotus version is the same as the generic Lucas part or is it specially made for Lotus. Is there a stronger version to be used in glass-fibre cars? or an intermittent version for classic cars?

I had a whole lot escape on my car once upon a time, but not caused by electrickery, but by a fool leak.

It was on the Hanger-Lane Gyratory ( a very large roundabout in north west London) and the escape of the flames & smoke caused a complete block of all traffic there for half to one hour until the fire-brigade arrived, put out the fire and & proceeded to do 'orrible things such as top up the fuel tank with water.

And yes indeed, the escape of the magic smoke turns white/cream headlining black..

It cost around ?5000 (1983 money) to get the magic smoke back into all the proper places in the car.
