I need to replace the rubber seal between the plastic lens & the chromed lamp body. Anyone got a suggestion as to what to use? I don't believe you can buy the original rubber seal.

You should be able to buy flat neoprene sheet. (not the foamed stuff used for wetsuits).

Failing that cut up an old inner tube.

Not quite what you're after but he may be able to track it down. Otherwise I'd be making some up from Clark Rubber or whatever the equivalent is over there.

On my Europa TC, same rear light, I used silicone sealer of the kind you can from with a wet finger. Sequuez it in the channel, level if off, and put the lens on when dry. Cheap, easy, and readily replaceable.

If you apply the commercially available liquid anti stick (Wurth for eg) and then gun bead in a good quality clear silicone rubber, when it dries it will lift out leaving you with a nice, durable and better sealing gasket. When the time comes to replace it, Just do the same. Filling the seal channel with silicone works a treat but can be a bugger to remove.

I have some anti stick spray if anyone is wishes to try it.

Great for sealing round the bath too. Gun the silicone, spray the area and use the little tool / scraper to remove the excess.

Std procedure in the glazing industry. Very pro' results with zero skill required... Suits me fine...

I would still try Sue Miller 1st though..

Already posted, but I too have bought new seals from Sue Miller. Note same light bodies used for Lotus Elan Plus 2s (so could have gone in Things In Common) and also Series II/III Jaguar E-Types. So check out SNG Barratt (page 70 Lamp seating gasket part number BD38161/2)

Yes, google does that sort of thing.

Unless it can work out if you are the same person (or internet address anyway) that was previously interested in left handed thingummyjigs, in which case it might present YOU with adverts related to those, instead.

One of my rear light seals i noticed filled with water. Upon investigation I note right and left on the seals, differance being a drain slot for any ingress at the bottom. I am to belive that these lights are installed upside down for the elan application so i guess the left installed upside down becomes a right so I ordered a right but got a left. get it.
I cut a slot for drainage, which is about the only useful bit of info here.. and sealed the rest with silicone lubricant , like vasalene.. Perfect.

There is a source for these in the US. http://www.rdent.com But I'm sure he gets them from the UK. 50M6059/60G
