Hi all,
I am in need of two headlight buckets for my Elan DHC, I have the headlight pods but nothing for the sealed beams to fit into any idea what these originally came from? Cortina, Mini? Austin 1100 all of the above.
I am guessing they are common as I do not see them on flea bay.

Tony,
It's not much use to you based in Oz, but to give you an idea, the place where I bought my replacement lighting kit sells the complete requirements. The nest assemblies are in steel and plastic - I chose plastic as it seemed to be in keeping with a plastic car.

I'm sure you have an equivalent source in Oz.

Hi Tony,
Wherever you get the bowls you need the ones with the clip which secures the chrome bezel - most have a screw to retain it. MGB ones are the same as the Elan and these people sell the clips separately if you can't find the right bowls it's a simple matter to change them over.....

Hi ,
regarding the clips, MGB has a hole for a self tapping screw which is fixed from the bottom, whereas the MGA has the push on clip
which is less damaging to the paint.
hope it helps.
Gerald.
Other way round I think. The MGB has semi-recessed headlamps so you can't use screws to fix the bezel.....same as the Elan

Hi Everyone
Actually the headlight bowls arn't "off" anything, they're standard Lucas "two screw adjuster" items made to suit standard 7 inch round headlamps. They would have been supplied to any number of UK manufactures who used Lucas electrics and that means just about everyone including Lotus. As far as clips to hold the bezel, they are separate items so either can be used. If you buy new shells from a Lucas stockests then clips need to be purchased seperately. If you buy S/H shells which had screw fitted bezels, then these can be converted by changing the clips. For the Elan, of course, you need clips to hold the bezels in place as there's no way screws can be accesed. Be warned though, once the bezels are clipped in place they're extreamly difficult to get off, for that reason I don't fit the bezels on my Plus 2
