Elan +2 - I have found out about wiring to horn push but have noticed that the brass wiper contact appears to have no surface in the column to make contact - any clues?

Also, the indicator return doesnt operate - it looks like there are no 'bumps' reaching down from the wheel far enough to push on the indicator switch pawls.

Mine is an Elan, but there should be a separate part called the horn push connector (36 H 6009) that fits below the steering hub, and the horn connector brush (28 M 0705) projecting through the steering hub rubs on that. I don't see either in your image.

You have a piece missing. Assuming the +2 is the same as the elan, mine has a plastic plate which fits into that gap in the steering column housing, maybe 3 inches across with a hole in the middle so it fits over the column. This plate carries a metal circular insert which the springy part on the back of the horn push makes contact with so that there (theoretically) is always contact which ever way you turn the wheel. The plastic is quite brittle and a snug fit and when I disassembled this I had to ease it out very gently. Perhaps a PO had less success with yours? Sorry, car not in bits so cannot send photo.

The indicator is a bit of a mystery. I have been there and even bought a whole new switch assembly (Triumph) and played with it for a while. Even now it still will cancel in one direction only, and then only when it feels like it!

Yep, that's what I was trying to put into words.

I think you are also missing a spring clip with bumps on it that fits on the steering column shaft and triggers the indicator return - at least that is what is on my Elan and Plus 2.

Isn't that an early +2 with the Ford switch gear? If it is the horn push is on the end of the indicator stalk.
