I didn't make a note of the postiion of the orange wing (fender) repeater lamps on my UK spec S4. The body shop of course filled in the holes so I need to redrill the holes in the correct position. Can anyone help with the dimemsions. Please note that I still have the original lamps which are smaller than the replacement ones that are available these days.

Mine are on a level with the top edge of the door aperture with the vertical centre line of the lamp 14.5 inches forward of the front edge of the door aperture. See pic.

Thanks Roger. Looks like you are in the process of a full restoration like I am.

Hi,
I'm new to the forum and was interested in this thread.
Could anyone tell me the name/source of the side repeaters shown in the picture above - Rogers - UK spec.
It must have the continuous chrome surround that goes into the cutouts where the screws go.
I've got one example, but need another to match - it has no markings/name on it.
It's NOT the Lucas L734, but I've been told that its a Lucas Sedan Part No FL155.
Is this correct?

Thanks
Jonathan

Thats a Sparto lamp.Same as the interior light with the white lens.
This repeater lamp is original fitment only to Sprints. They are now very hard to come by and unless you're a stickler for originality to be honest the lucas lamp is a better quality fitting.

Not entirely correct, my 69 S4 SE also has the same repeaters which are smaller thatn the new ones available these days. If anyone knows a source for the smaller ones I would be interested as I need to replace the aluminium surround on one of them.

Hi Keith,
unfortunately the sparto lenses are no longer available.
I did my first resto in 1980 and I could only source the lucas type then!
The white/orange lenses are sometimes seen on ebay-the aluminium surrounds fit both.

My reference was from Brian Bucklands manual so i did a bit of digging :o

Robinshaw/Ross S3-lucas 52813a S4/Sprint lucas fl155 or sparto
Period photos-
Motor test S4 1970-looks to be sparto
Rindt Sprint(an S4)-sparto
lotus brochure-Elan S4(yellow dhc front/white fhc back) both-lucas
possibly a case of what was to hand for S4/SEs

Interestingly again according to Robinshaw/Ross the sparto interior light was present from S1-Sprint

Hi Nigel,
Did you find out what other vehicle they were used on, there might be a chance that some are ina scrap yard somewhere.

Jonathan

Vehicle Wiring Products sell a similar thing to the Sparto that they call Torpedo Lamp, but clear lens only. Perhaps it could be tinted orange somehow. See their item M23, less than ?2 too. 8)

Ian,
That's a good lead. My lenses are ok it's just the metal trim pieces that are corroded & need replacing.

Keith-the only other vehicle I found with these repeater lamps was a-Europa-sorry

Ian-that lens may be worth a punt :D I wonder if they can get an amber lens?

Tamiya do a transparent orange paint-meant for plastic model cars.
this could be sprayed inside the lens for effect.
