My 'Tudor' pump packed in last year.

Could not find an equivalent here (and did not try to find one through the usual UK suppliers).

So, I bought a washer pump from my local autofactors. About ?10 (?1000 at today's rates :)).

It feeds from the BOTTOM of the Tudor bottle so I cut a hole in the bottom of the Tudor bottle, inserted a nice grommet and plugged the pump in.

Works perfectly.....

AND I've kept the defunct Tudor pump as the bottle top/lid so all looks 'original'.

Hi Neil and welcome!

Sue Miller is worth trying - she supplied a washer pump for my Elan [not sure if its the same as the +2 one but she does +2 parts]. I think she also does the Tudor bottles. http://www.mickmillerlotus.com/intro.html

Hi Neil

I'm not sure what year your car is but if its a late model like mine, it should have an electric Trico pump mounted vertically on the washer bottle top. If you find one let me know where you got it as I don't think they're available new any more and are therefore quite rare.

On most cars I've seen (mine included) the washer bottles have been modifed to take a standard, off the shelf, generic pump. You can get these ok from the likes of Halfords or Holden.

Hi

Thanks for the info. Im sure it should be a Tudor "Top hat" type pump.

Im looking for anything anyone has broken, old or nos. I figure if I get enough broken ones I can make a good one!!

Im also looking for a bottle to go with the pump. It is round, with a step in the side. The top 1/3rd is about a 1/4" bigger in dia than the rest of the bottle.

Any and all help is welcome

I have an original +2 bottle and pump (top hat style) available. The pump works but I am not sure it puts out full pressure. It seems low but that may be because its not got a hose attached. Anybody know how forcefully the water comes out with the no hoses attached? Attached is a picture or two.

Not sure what to ask for this? Anybody know. I'd put it up on ebay but I figure I'll see if an enthusiast wants it first.

Hi Neil,

In a moment of boredom....had a look on eBay:

(or item number 330292593123)

No pump though.

Hi Neil

Here's a picture of a late Plus 2 engine bay showing the Trico type washer pump. It looks like both this and the Tudor type were fitted to the Plus 2 so it gives you an alturnative to look for.

If you are looking for one to repair, I would suggest the Trico item might be the best bet as it looks like it comes to pieces much easier than the Tudor one also, being all plastic, it looks less likly to rust.

My old Plus 2 had the original style pump and the pressure was hopeless. My current car has a modern, in-line, pump and the pressure is, well, like a modern car..!

When my old (original) pump was working the pressure was adequate.

With the modern on.....it's as Robbie states.....got modern pressure!

Next on my list is a potential windscreen wiper drive/motor conversion.

While the standard Lucas one works fine...I have recently has some problems with the off-side wiper drive. Probably the drive cable....

Hi

Thanks again. I do understand that a moden pump is better. Im still going to try and find wnaterver original pumps I can.

Im hoping to make a good one, or even fit a new pump inside the old Tudor on.

I did not know there was a Trico pump and bottle. If any one has one of those I would also be interested

Again, thanks for the kind help and suport to a new guy!!

I have a modern pump in line with the broken trico pump. the modern pump is hidden, and the presence of the trico makes things look orignal!
