Radio question

PostPost by: stuartgb100 » Sun Jun 03, 2007 8:11 am

Just removed the PO's aftermarket radio/cassette player, which never worked anyway.

Stunned to find that it seems to be a full-depth unit ! I thought only shallow units would fit, or is that only correct for +2's ?

Either that, or my PO's been more devious than I thought.

Regards,
Stuart.

Standard full depth units fit in the Elan - its only the plus 2 that has restricited depth

Thanks Rohan.

Thought that might be the case, since the recess where the radio was fitted did not look 'chopped' about, as it might do after someone's attempts to enlarge it.

Stuart.

Stuart,

The heater is mounted at an angle behind the dash. Thus there is more clearance at the top, but none (well, only enough for the switches) at the bottom.

If you wanted to modify the dash to fit a double din unit, for instance to install a navigation system or other such double high application, then you would have problems.
