Faulty horn

PostPost by: Phil W » Tue Feb 27, 2007 8:57 pm

Many years ago the bakelite plastic plate beneath the horn push on my '74 +2 130/5 disintegrated and I muddled through by wiring the horns to a flick switch beneath the sterring column.

I'd like to reinstate the proper bits. Anyone know where I can get the correct plastic plate with inset metal plate and horn pencil?

New horn brushes are on offer on ebay quite frequently and usually sell for about 5GBP
6.50GBP +VAT at Paul Matty?s

Right now to find with the following address:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TRIUMPH-Spitfire- ... dZViewItem

The horn push button is a different matter. It seems to be quite rare, I have seen it go on ebay from time to time for about 30-50GBP.

But I?d recommend to give Susan Miller a call first at 01728 603307

Hope this helps

For horn push parts try Rimmer Brothers, they sell all the parts for the steering columns and horns as Lotus used the ones from the Triumph Herald, Spitfire and Vitesse

Thanks all.
Spent a wet weekend either under the car or bent over the engine bay trying to squeeze the engine / gearbox back in.
