Do they publish a positive earth version with appropriate output device? A basic "assist with dwell control" system would reduce maintenance though it surprises me that the contacts don't need a wetting current to stay clean.
Any chance you could PM me a circuit? The link went to a legacry page and I couldn't find a contact breaker item in the up-to-date page. Perhaps I have to sign up and log in; is it free?

Mark, the link takes you to a page with a sample; at the bottom of which is a link to access the full article. It's this link that doesn't work - takes you a "legacy web site" page, with no article.
If you've been able to access the full article could you post a direct link, please?
In the meantime, this might be interesting: https://andersstenhammar.com/aeroduino-ignition/
It's an ignition system based on an Arduino for aircraft engines, it could be adapted for car engines. There's another, more mature Arduino based ECU called Speeduino. I'm trying to see what state it is in at the moment.

I'll PM you with the kit instructions over the next few days. Quite a few pages to scan as they are quite detailed. As a kit it is now obsolete from Jaycar but you should still be able to obtain pre-programmed PIC IC's and PCB's direct form Silicon Chip. They are usually pretty good to deal with as they are all nerd electronics enthusiasts.
