They look like they're off a Turbo Esprit to me, which probably took them off another car.

Is it posible to prosecute people for doing things like that - or is it seen as a modern version of the late Sir Chapmans use of donor materials?
And by the way, does anyone know if the poor car is still alive?

My one problem is that distance keeps me from my Elan. (36/5395)

Jens,
It would not be my choice of rear lights but as the owner might read this forum so I won't say what I think. The photo was taken at a club Lotus event in Donnington in April 1990 (I think). I suppose in 'true' Lotus fashion it was a case of using what was available at the time and with a 'rear' like that you would probably be noticed...

Many thanks for all the replies, I wasn't expecting that many different answers... I think i will have my original ones refurbished (with me doing most of the work to keep the price down) Anyone tried the product Mazak Mender?
Looks easy enough... I did pick up a scrap lense from the lotus show this year for a couple of quid and will experiment before using it on the originals!!!!!

I heard somebody say that when you dismantle the rear lenses they come out spic and span out of the dish washer.
Anyone tried that?

S.N.G Barratt are classic Jaguar specialists but they also supply new tail lamps for the S4/+2 Elans.
I guess they twigged the market for re-manufactured E type lamps could be expanded? They are not a perfect replica and a bit of fettling is needed to fit them but finding new/good oe ones is not easy!
Not cheap either at getting on for ?500 a pair a couple of years ago, That said, the oe pair on ebay went for ?815 and I could no see Lucas cast on the body?

The Plus 2 had the Alfa rear lights up to chassis no 50/0177. Then they used the Lucas units as seen on the S4, but they were fitted upside down compared to the Elan. The etype series s2 and v12 used the same base but with different lenses, with no reversing lights.
Those lights on the Elan above are from the rover sd1 and used on the Esprit S2.
