Lucas 6RA Horn Relay

PostPost by: Breezehill » Sun Mar 14, 2021 10:58 am

After a few months I'm now down to the last few connections having fully rewired the car. Just need hep with one relay, it's the alternative relay as per the workshop manual, which has the small jumper cable though the wiring diagram only shows the old three terminal type. Took photos of all these pre rewire but can't find one of this relay so can only assume I've inadvertently deleted it. I have connected it up as per my knowledge of relays but just need confirmation it's correct.

Therefore if anyone has a photo or just the colour codes for the relative terminals?

Generally you power up W1 and C1(purple/white). W2 goes to purple / black from button and C2 goes to horn (purple). Working off S2 diagram so no relay shown. You just need to power up one Contact terminal and one Winding terminal then horn goes to remaining Contact and button goes to remaining Winding

Currently I have the original jumper connection from C1 to W1 then purple to C2, Purple & yellow to C1 and purple & black to W2.

Sounds right. The power goes thru the two C. contact terminals, triggered by less power thru the two W winding terminals

The horns do also need a ground to work. If single terminal they need to have the body grounded if two terminal one of those terminals needs to be grounded
