Battery upgrade for +2 130

My plus 2 130 is currently running a 037 coded battery, its ford based with square terminals. Can anyone give an upgrade battery for the UK market that will give more staying power and cranking? Cheers Neal

Have a look at gel batteries on a site like http://www.jjcraceandrally.com/ (no association but my experiences with buying all sorts of equipment etc them have been great - also everything - including batteries is post free)

All sorts of sizes & specs available, but can provide much greater cranking power & capacity, & for a lighter weight as well. Cannot leak.

Not part of your question, but you won't want to think about needing a high torque starter motor after fitting one of these.

Expensive, but should last at least 10 years if treated correctly.

Have a search on here for 'odyssey 680'. These seem the favorite at the moment. I have one and it is excellent. Quite unbelievable actually considering how small it is. Had it on all this year now and has been no problem.

Been using an Odyssey 680 for between three and four years now and it shows no sign of deterioration. Still cranks the engine over seemingly for ever and holds its charge for long periods when the car isn't used. Pity they're not a bit cheaper but as it doubles up as the battery for one of my motorcycles it's been good value for money.

For normal batteries. When I bought 2 last year.
037 - flat terminals 38 Ah no increased capacity option
038 - round terminals 38Ah also an increased capacity version (will check spec)

The round terminal version the terminals are the opposite way round to the flat terminals.

Lack of use kills batteries so I'm happy to buy the cheaper ones and routinely change them when they go off - only 30 odd quid with a 3 year guarantee so not worth any hassle. I used to buy the expensive ones but they aren't that much better in classics. Daily drive is a different matter heavy duty and 5 year guarantee - they get a hammering and that is where the extra money goes.

I bought a DUCELIER 015 on ebay from "batteries on the web2011" it has been excellent but you have to convert to round terminals and opposite pole arrangement for ?48.89. I have had it on for a year now no problems
The advantage of changing poles is you have a lot more options than the square type, I changed about 10 years ago and had a couple of batteries before the one fitted now fitted with a CTEK to maintain it. :D :D
