PostPost by: DaveAlmey » Tue Jan 31, 2012 11:16 am

Hi all,

With the knowedge that these flash units part number 036M6022 are obsolite (unless you know different). :?:

Does anyone have an old unservicable one I can have and I will get some made. The reward would be a new one from the very limited production. :!:

Any info on these units appreciate, circuit diagram or WHY.

Thanks

Dave

Dave

Hi Dave,

Not very good with part numbers, are you talking about the 3 terminal flasher unit?

Hi,

No, The three terminal is the relay, the flasher unit is the two terminal flasher unit.

The three terminal relay is also not available, but can be resolved with a 6RA unit with a jumper cable. I'm in the process of looking at manufacuring these 3 teminal relays

Your feedback welcome

Dave

Dave,

Have you tried Sue Miller for the headlight flasher unit? I've certainly had one from her in the last year. I've also seen replica Lucas 6RA relays for sale recently but I can't remember where offhand. I'll have a think and let you know if I come across them again.

Dave,

I've remembered - AES has them. ( http://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk ) An eBay search also produced a few for sale.

I believe that flashing headlights are now illegal except for emergency vehicles so if you do fit a flasher unit in pursuit of originality it might be wise to disconnect it for the MOT test.

I had understood that if a feature was legal in period, then current MOT standards did not apply. Along with the Elans, I have 1932 Standard 12. On dip, the right hand headlight goes out, and the reflector in the left hand headlight moves to angle the beam down to the road. Legal in period, and as my MOT man told me, legal now.

Hi Andy,
You are quite right and that is confirmed by a previous post.......
types26/36 wrote:Well not may of them do now as people tend to disconnect the flashing system, it is also "supposed" to be illegal now but both my S2 & Sprint work and I have no probs with the MOT.

..... but not all MOT testers are familiar with testing older vehicles and may be unsympathetic so if you are unsure of the tester you are using you could avoid possible agro by simply disabling the flasher for the test.
Of course he still may not like the front number plate on the grille !
