Oil pressure gauge feed pipe S3

PostPost by: badback » Mon Feb 15, 2010 11:57 pm

As I seem to have lost / misplaced the original oil pressure gauge feed pipe for my 1967 S3 Elan renovation project my question is was this pipe plastic as on the S4s or did the early cars use a copper pipe

It's a kind-of plastic/nylon on my S3 which come to think of it, after 43 years, is a bit of a worry!

I wouldn't go with either plastic or copper. The latter can work-harden and crack over time. On my Mini I installed a Goodridge hose in -4 size (I think) and the response to pressure changes is terrific.

I bought a new one from Paul Matty recently in response to a friend reporting his plastic pipe becoming brittle over the last 40 years.
