Lights on warning buzzer?

PostPost by: Gasman » Tue Aug 19, 2008 7:07 pm

Hi all

The great British summer means I left my lights on again today.

Has anyone fitted a warning buzzer that lets you know if you switch the ignition off while leaving the lights on? This could save me repeated embarassment.

Thanks

Mark

Hi Mark

I fitted one of these on the wife's Mini (the car :) ) it was very easy just 2 wires and did the trick.

See Ebay Item number: 110280614538 only ?4.50 including postage.

Or you could simply rewire the lights so they get power only when the ignition is on.

Mark

An extra door switch wired to a buzzer fed from the lighting power will do the job...

If I remember correctly with the UK spec the original micro switch cut the power to the headlight relay when the lights were lowered. This was to make sure that you couldn't leave the lights on when they were lowered. This would not of course work for the failsafe system.

Would only work for the headlights not the side lights.

Wiring a simple 12V buzzer from the lighting circuit via the door switch does the trick.
