Hi People,
I have a question for you. Can anyone give me the circuitry for the switch. E.G. what switches to what when switched to 1st positon 2nd position and start etc. I am just at the dashboard wiring stage and finding a few differences here n there. The con's to the switch 'as was', is no where near what the wiring diagram says it should be. Doh!...
The switch is the column mounted vers' as per 73 sprint dhc.
Thanks in advance...

Not sure if the link below is of help - I have got notes of what connects where on the ignition switch at home so if you haven't got the answer when I get back this evening I will post them.

I have nothing that new in the way of Elans, all of my elans have the ignition switch on the dash where it belongs. I have re-assembled a Sprint dash for a friend and if I remember correctly the new harness went in without issues. I followed the wiring diagram in the 1971 workshop manual. My friend took the S4 diagram page to the copy shop and had them blow the stock diagram onto a 34 by 51 inch sheet of paper. The only issue I had was with the DB10 flasher. The U.S. Sprint ran directionals and emergency flashers off of it and I needed to have power to the DB10 unit to work the emergency flashers without the key on, consequently the directional worked too without the key. All of my notes were left with my friend so I can't be much help.

Thanks guys.. That info' is indeed helpfull. I stripped the switch this am and cleaned the contacts, re-lubed it and put it back together. It now works again So I will check the con's against the diagram and note them down.
Getting close to plug and play time...
Wish me luck...

This is a better link - http://www.lucaselectrical.co.uk/techni ... gearTI.pdf go to page 12 and look at the diagram for 33820. My car ignition switch is wired as follows:
1 white/purple and red/yellow
2 white
3 thick brown and thin brown
4 white/red
Likewise rather varied from the official wiring diagram!

Hi richard,
This little car is still fighting me tooth and nail....
See other post ref' headlamp relay control/switching
Thanks for the info'. Great page that from Lucas. I have saved that one into my fav' list
Looks just as I found out after I had cleaned the switch and got it working. I had left on the old looms' con's for ref' and took some pic's also so I wired up the new one as it was and away it went. Working just fine. Only other problem is with headlamp relays. More tricky to sort!!
