Diff mount wear...

Hi All,
I have a spare diff with wallowed out torque rod holes...
What to do? Bush them with alu.... weld them up and re-machine... or leave them alone (and rely on the rubber or poly bushes)?
Would someone please tell me what the clearance hole size is?... Is it bigger than a standard 3/8 clearance hole?
I'm leaning toward welding. Do I risk damaging the casting? I would use a copper backer and make sure there is no machining to do on the back side...
I could make good fitting poly bushes and just leave it.
Thanks

The holes are suppossed to have a signficant clearance so the rod does not hit the diff as it moves. The rod is centred in the hole by the rubber bushes. The original bushes had a small lip that fitted into the diff hole to aid in this centering. Personally I would just leave it as is.
I tried Poly bushes but went back to rubber for the diff torque rods as they were not flexible enough to correctly install the rods
cheers

I think your diff should be OK to use as it is. The bush kit for the torque rods includes shaped cup washers which fit either side of the diff lug and protrude into the centre hole, these locate and centre the rubber bushes which in turn centre the rod through the hole. It's the same kit as used for the front anti-roll bar to lower shock attachment.
