Hi Jeff,
I understood that Sue sells the Kelvedon shafts. I think she likes to be a one stop shop whenever possible. Sometimes a customer likes to order everything from her without shopping around.

We've recently signed a trade agreement with OZ. Does that now preclude the need to pay an import tax. Jim

We have, but only if you want to buy a cow.

Applies to all goods, not just agriculture.

We still have to pay it.

Hi Mark,
Can you tell us please why you are swapping out the SM CV joints to replace with the Oz ones?...Have you had a problem with the SM ones?

I think he is swapping because the SM ones can block in full droop on a baby Elan
The OZ don't block/jam.

'I think he is swapping because the SM ones can block in full droop on a baby Elan

But maybe, instead of conjecture, Mark will actually come back, for once, and clarify. Still waiting on the 'who' in the 5 speed gearbox saga, are we not? Unless I have missed it, in which case appologies.

As I have written before, why does it matter? Because if you were considering gearbox, engine, diff work, whatever, wouldn't you want to know who NOT to go to, just as much as who is to be recommended.

Hi Leslie,
For me the best CVs are the ones in USA that replace also the Diff Output Shafts.
Keeping the distance between CVs to max to reduce chance of blocking/jaming. Angles kept to minimum.
Also not so heavy and in "Chubbies" (chapman's) way of thinking.

I would not know who makes the best CVs Alan, they do not interest me. I had you down as an 'original' man anyway. Isn't your car fitted with donuts, or have I got that wrong? In any event A, you are missing the point of my post. Hope you are well, as you did not write anything here for a while. So looking forward to Sprinting in France again, but cant see it this year I am afraid. To many germs flying about for my liking.

Best

Leslie

P.S. There are no upgrades on an original Elan. Don't believe the hype

Not so sure why your having a dig, but anyone is free to PM me and I’ll answer any and all questions as best I can, usually with a phone call. I can’t remember, but did you ask or are you asking for a friend?

I may have been unlucky with the box, who knows, but it is very frustrating. The cost in terms of cash is relatively insignificant, however cost in terms of time to me is not.

As for the CV shafts, it had actually nothing to do with the droop, so I’ll let you speculate on other reasons. Suffice to say they are mechanically sound and have given no issues, it’s just a preventative thing. Check out a real rant on the forum re CV’s.
