Whine in diff

Hi all. considering removing the diff and trying to stop the overrun whine. Reading other posts it's fairly common? Not really that bothered about the noise, although a bit annoying on the road runs. As we use the car for hillclimbs, we were thinking of fitting a spare plated LSD we have kicking around if we do decide to have a look inside. CWP was new before we got the car and suspect not quite set up correct, or the side bearings have settled in. It is gear whine and not bearings. We have a local Ford motorsport guy who will set it up for us, once it's out. The only time we have thought that an LSD would have been handy was on a very wet slippery and Harewood Hill last year. Other than that the car handles superbly. Any tips on getting the thing out? Apart from don't get involved? Told it comes out of the right hand side. Never been in one, so any 'easy, or easier way tips' most welcome. We will be sticking to the standard ratios fitted, as we have found ideal for the job. Any ideas, info most welcome. We do have access to a lift so no jacks and stands to deal with. Too old for that anyway! Cheers. :D

Simpler to remove on the LEFT side.

The handbrake cable & tree are in the way on the RHS.

Disconnect the lower wishbone at the outer end, loosen the inner bolts and let it hang down.

When you have it out, grind off the surplus metal under the nose of the casting.

:)

Cheers for that. Will have a go when the lift is free. Rob
