If you have any photographs showing where the clutch hose brackets are bolted to the car can you post them, please, '70 Elan RHD.

Here's the top end as best I can get - hopefully someone else will have better.



So it looks as if I fabricated a Z shaped bracket to get the union below the wheel arch.
The clearance under the airbox is not great.

The slave end of flexible clips to bell housing iirc with rigid continuing to cylinder.
If you can get bleed nipple upper most then it should be easy enough getting air out.

If you're feeling slush you can buy a braided flexible to go direct from master cylinder. H

As you can see here the top should be fixed to one of the engine mount bolts. (since the picture was taken i found the clutch line fits better using the lower engine mount bolt)





One thing you have to address with the clutch slave is the proximity to the exhaust manifold, to do this most people fit a small heat shield to the back of the slave cylinder and wrap the hard pipe with heat insulation. Doing this will substantially prolong your clutch slave cylinders life and will prevent any unwanted clutch issues on hot days.

Some thing else to think about is fitting a remote bleeding pipe and fix it some where more accessible.

That's much better than the arrangement on my car - I've had it since 1982 and put it back where it came from when I rebuilt it.
Not easy to get at with carbs on so it's going to stay there fo a while!

I couldn't remember where i had seen the the engine mount assembly picture but just remembered, the guy who originally dis-assembled our elan was a test engineer so had the habit of drawing little diagrams of everything he took apart (thought getting a a4 binder full of little drawings was a bit ott at the time but it's surprising how often it's come in handy).

To be quite honest i was surprised when i started going through the paper work and found hundreds of pages of diagrams of parts, they are labeled between 72 and 82 which is the period the car was on the road. I don't know if he had the worse memory or just a bit ott on making sure every washer went back in the same place. Either way it really helped me assemble the boxes of bits.

30 or 40 years ago that's what you did, especially if you know it'll be a while before you reassemble.
Nowadays that means tomorrow for me!

That's very good! I use my cell phone to take pictures before I pull something apart... saved me a few times

I bought the long flex hose from One of the well known suppliers but in addition I used a banjo fitting on the slave cylinder to keep the pipe further away from the exhaust. It appears to fit nice and neatly. Don?t be fooled by the first picture, due to the angle it was taken at it looks as if the clutch pipe goes into the cylinder head breather pipe, it doesn?t!
