Diff Drain Plug Thread

PostPost by: Donels » Mon Sep 24, 2018 5:59 pm

Does anyone know what the thread size is for the diff drain plug on a 1972 +2?
Some gorilla has tightened the plug and stripped the thread. It has just enough purchase to refit and be carefully tightened and I used Loctite to hopefully ensure it holds. However, it really needs a helicoil.

Thanks for the info Brian but these are sump plugs. The diff housing is Lotus unique, does your 1/2" unf refer to this?.

The fittings in the differential housing are all BSPP,
Drain: 1/4 BSPP
Fill: 1/2 BSPP
Breather: 3/8 BSPP
The plugs are all brass and use fiber crush washers.

They are probably standard plumbing parts in Britain.
