Lotus Elan and Lotus Elan Plus 2 Forums

Hi,
Just a thought, will the Lotus 5 speed gearbox from the later Eclat fit in the Elan or are the ratios completely wrong? From the outside the gearbox casing looks similar? Not planning to change my 4 speed box but I did wonder?

Pretty sure the ratios are the same, but the bell housing & tailshaft housing are different & won't fit the Elan/+2.

Yes, it's basically the same gearbox with different Bell housing and tail shaft housing.

You can't got it to an elan with out changing those components.
