Zetec clutch advise

Ive been reading the past treads about the zetec clutch parts.

I was wondering if the 3000gt plate idea was used?

Either way twink soon to be out if rain ever stops when im shoreside,
The zetec is 1800 with the clutch already on it to suit the MT75.
As im keeping the 4 speed, is it just a case of swapping the plates over? My understanding on the above query is the Mitsy clutch plate is bigger and will show more friction material to the assembly.
Therefore could be a reasonably considered upgrade.

Regards.

Paul

I went with the 3000GT plate mainly due to lack of options on this side of the pond. You have many more resources available over there. The 3000GT plate fits the input splines, flywheel and pressure plate well but I can't yet comment on how it actually performs. Not quite there yet.

The clutch plate fits perfectly with an Escort pressure plate from the year of the engine. Has good bite and smooth on take up. This is with a close ratio (2.5) 2000E, and a 3.54 differential. A Fidanza aluminum flywheel for the same make, model year of the engine is used. The only fiddle was the angle of the fingers of the pressure plate. On a suggestion from a local clutch repair shop, the pressure plate was shimmed out from the flywheel approximately .060", the thickness of an AN washer. This resulted in a difference in measurement from the edge of the housing to the end of the fingers or .020", when completely assembled. This seems to be able to provide enough pressure on the driven disc, so no slippage is noticed, even under wheel spinning starts. So far, 1400 miles and everything is working as advertised.
