Lotus 5 speed gear stick

PostPost by: gjz30075 » Fri Oct 13, 2017 6:05 pm

Sorry for the continuing saga of my gearstick. I'm trying to get it to look like, feel like and maybe even
shift like, a 4 speed box. I'm close. But now, this last bit of play I have I've traced to the
junction I have circled in the pic. I've tried to attach an .mpg file but not allowed, apparently. Thought I've
done that in the past, oh well. Anyone know of a good hosting site for .mpg files?

Anyway, I've got rotaional movement of the stick, enough to be annoying. So, is this normal for this 'box
or, what have other Lotus 5 speed owners done for this issue?

The gearchange on Toad has been vastly improved by the small mods mentioned here and other places.

There is no noticable "rotation " on the stick.

Thanks Vince. I've ordered this:

With the box in the car, I don't know how much more I can do, but I'll keep looking at the mods on
the forum. Could have easily missed one or two.

Greg
I'm sure that saddle will not fit but you could put the fork in the vice and close it up a bit to remove any "rotational slop" .
