Whist I'm at it I've decided I may as well replace the entire clutch assembly. It may be lighter? Although having the correct slave will be a plus!

I imagine it is a standard 8.5 inch Borg and Beck device. I cannot see why it would be any different just 'cos it 's in a Lotus.

Any idea what other vehicle had the same fitted?

One useful snippet I found on the forums when I was considering if I should fit a new plate on my car while the engine was out was that new plates for 5 speeds need some machining to reduce the thickness of the rear spine section to fit.

I decided not to replace mine as it was in New condition and proven to work well. So the hassle/risk to get a new one machined didn't seem worth it.

I'd recommend that you check the fit of any plate you get to see if the machining is required before putting everything together.

A light skim with an angle grinder does the job,I did mine while it was being rotated on a short round bar fixed in the vice..
