Many thanks for your numerous posts. On the basis of the photos I now also understand how the angle drive is constructed and where probably the defect lies.

I'm going to remove the angle drive this evening.

after the spare parts the whole winter in the drawer, I wanted yesterday the new speedo cable and the new angle drive incorporate. Now I have a big problem. I have noticed that there are still remains of the old shaft in the drive hub of the gearbox.

Has one of you an idea how I remove the remnants. In the installed state there is very little work space.

I hope in the picture you can recognize a little.

Hi,
I think your only option is to remove the drive hub from the gearbox, the piece of the cable is of a hardened steel wire not easily drilled, a powerful magnet may pull it if not stuck, the type found on telescopic rod for picking up things ( I have several !! ).
With the drive hub removed you could drill a small hole in the plastic gear and tap the broken piece out. The drive hub has an ? O ? ring which often needs a bit of persuasion to come out but that is all keeping it in place.

If I extend the drive hub, then I have to drain the gear oil before, or is the oil level under it?

Hi,
Raising the rear of car up will make sure the hub hole is above the oil level in the main case, there may be a little residual oil in the area when you pull the hub.
BTW, I had a quick check on the gear shaft that has the broken piece in it, it is NOT completely hollow so drilling from the back will need to be quite deep if you go down this route, you may, worse case, need a replacement gear. I bet it?s a black one which is probably the most difficult to find!

I got the drive hub expanded. The rest of the wave is also successfully removed.
