Hi question as above, what 4 speed box ihave I got in my 1971 Elan Sprint. I ask because the gear lever is pissed! I can waggle it around from left to right and when i pop it in gear i have to cetralise the stick and carefully select the gears. The gears go in perfectly but it's the sloppyness I would like to get rid of.
Anyone else experienced this?
Any help on this would be appreciated.

Suspect it might just be the plastic cup that holds the stick mechanism in place needs screwing down. Remove the gaiter and see if it's tight or not.

or the bush at the bottom of the lever has broken.

Thanks gents,I'll take a look when the weather picks up as she's tucked away in the car coon..

And don't go driving until you've fixed it or, like me, you might have a 100 mile trip ahead of you with a car stuck in, ( fortunately in my case ), top gear.

Lucky it wasn't 1st..........
