Reverse light switch

PostPost by: Jamiezt190 » Wed May 11, 2016 8:55 pm

So....I am restoring a 73 Elan +2 (130/5) and nearly finished - last job is getting the reversing lights working. Problem is that the switch seems to have sheered on the side of the gearbox. (assuming it is rear of box on off-side?) - has anyone ever done either of the following?
1. manual switch - really not keen on this
2. contact/push button switch positioned on lower right of gear stick (reverse position)?
3. accessed the gearbox by drilling a hole in the drive tunnel (plate over afterwards) to gain access to the broken switch and remove/replace?
4. Anything else?

Help greatly appreciated
James

James

130/5,the switch is on the rear-lower offside of the gearbox, hidden by the gearbox mounting plate, remove this and replace the switch...
