Prop shaft bolts

So just popped my propshaft in and after consulting with my mate Pete put the four bolts on the diff flange on pointing forwards I.e. With the nut on the engine side. The workshop manual, parts manual and Brian bucklands book don't say which way is correct so I as there a right way to fit them? If there is I can gaurentee that I've put them on the wrong way......

for info be sure they are fitted bolts with a plain section on the shank and are not set screws threaded up to heads

Hi Matt & Alan, I think the correct way might be the only practical way, in my experience. Usually one flange is thinner than the other. I would put the plain shank through the thinner flange first making sure there is enough plain shank left for the thicker one. If both flanges are the same, usually one direction is easier for the nut to be tightened. I hope this makes sense! :D
Cheers Lyn...

From an earlier post of mine, the nut goes on the differential side.

Vernon - These are NAS fasteners that I selected because the small wrenching surfaces allow me to use a box (ring) wrench on both the bolt head and nut. With standard 5/16 UNF hex fasteners you can only use an open end wrench on the nuts because of the proximity to differential input flange. Here is a link to my earlier post:

So I've done a bit more research and it appears that as standard British manufacturers put the bolts in with the heads to the propshaft, so l've swapped the little beggars round. Lucky the body's off.....
