I found this in my classic Ford mag last month and have been meaning to post. This one is a CR 1:1 top, I'm thinking an overdrive may be an option, but have not confirmed.

Wow, that's interesting so he does helical bullet gearsets as well? - I thought the only option was Quaife sc gears if you want a close ratio 4 speed in your Elan. :D

I have been trying to contact Mark at 07547371269 with no luck. The number appears not to be in service. I have tried his email but no reply. Any one know how to reach him?

He told me a week or so ago that he was very busy and had turned off his phone to give him some time to get his jobs done.
I'm not sure there is any other advice apart from try, try and try again!

Approximately ?3000 and you have to install it yourself! Is the fact that it's the original casing albeit modified that makes it attractive? Can you put it back to original?

I think the 6 speed Mazda/Spyder conversion is a better bet than this. You get to keep your old gearbox rather than modify it and the cost is around ?4000 installed, no messing about yourself.

Don't get me wrong, this is genuinely an interesting development and an alternative to the type 9 or MT75 conversions, but for my money I would be looking at a gearbox that was designed to have more than 4 forward cogs from the start, with good cheap spares backup and good gear change characteristics.

This box is a bit of an unknown quantity to live with and use, a report by somebody who has one and more importantly has used a standard 4 speed is needed.

Thanks for posting the article James, I genuinely found it interesting

It should be mentioned that the MKF Engineering box still only has a direct top gear--5th is 1:1.
