Here's another option you might consider if you don't have any luck with the other suggestions ... make a solid one.
Be aware though that if the angle drive were to sieze, the plastic speedo gear would be destroyed rather than the quill so it's important to keep the angle drive lubricated ... not normally a problem as it gets plenty of oil from the gearbox on it's way to the garage floor. :lol: Mine was done in the mid 80's and has been fine since.

Hi, I've just measured my spare Caterham quill drive as 40mm long and between 2.60 & 2.62mm across the square.

At sometime in the past my quill was replaced by a nail with ends flattened to fit a round peg in a square hole.
It worked fine until I took the drive off and refitted following rebuild.
I replaced it with one from my local Caterham dealer - he had loads after misordering spares himself.
