And now, how do you remove the speedo thingie that stick out on the side of the gearbox.
The workshop manual does not help at all....

Where is that one located please?

top front of the gear box just behind the join to the bellhousing.

It on the top a little on the right of centre I think on top of the reverse gear selector rail in the box. IN front of the top alloy cover and behind the join to the bell housing. Hard to see but if carbs and exhaust is off you can look down behind the engine and see it.

On all the ones that I have seen (but read sometimes as it's a Lotus, and things do vary), the reverse switch has wires soldered to it. These wires then have bullet connectors in the wire about 6 - 12inches (15-30cms) away from the switch.

If you can't find it, don't worry. Start lifting the engine out, and then when the engine / gearbox joint is coming level with the engine mounts, you will be able to see the wires and disconnect. Just go slowly until you have seen and disconnected the switch.

Clutch was as dead as its possible to be dead for clutch!

Worn out completely, bearing in pieces! Fork damaged! :shock:

Engine compressions are kind of low and uneven. I cleaned it put it on stand and ready for a refresh...
