Is the slave bore for the Elan supposed to be 7/8"??? E-bay purchase that I don't trust!

Hi Kurt,
Yes, .875" (7/8"). Have you considered having your old one resleeved in stainless steel?
Cheers,
Colin.

Thanks Colin but I think I can get by with this one. Maybe at a later date...I don't really like the idea of an aluminum bore but question the different expansion rates of aluminum and steel.

Kurt,
Had my brake and clutch master cylinders and clutch slave cylinder sleeved with S/S two years ago. 12,000 miles since, no problems.
Cheers,
Colin.

I'm missing something here. If you re sleeve in stainless (as I always do), you end up with a steel piston in a stainless steel bore. No problems there re different expansion....Or are you worried about the sleeve itself coming loose in the cylinder? Never happens as far as I'm aware.....

Can anyone give a price for re-sleeving and who does it? Very interesting.
Thanks,
Kev.

Pretty much any brake place down under, usually $A80 or thereabouts per bore

A friend had a leak develop between the sleeve and the master bore on a MG. It would seem to me that that would be more likely with the different rate's of expansion between Al and Steel. Not really a big concern for me...Its just that the bore cleaned up nicely as is. If it were nasty I would consider it. I suppose the leak I'm talking about had a lot to do with the company that did the work.

As mentioned, not really a concern.
