Bill,

Like I said it is down to exactly what you put in the search line. Try 'Mick Miller CV Driveshafts' which I thought was a pretty obvious search on this forum as just opposed to CV shafts............'presto' I only got my own original post.

I use several forums having many classic cars and also do electrical/electronic circuit design support on a specialised forum.......I do get a bit fed up with searches and people populating their 'scorecard' by just posting 'do a search'...............as I ALWAYS being experienced and a long time member on those forums when any repetitive questionsare asked gentlemanly just put a copy of the links like what you have done .................

I have though taken the time to trawl back through the sites threads though and found some now.................

Hopefully this is not just a 'newbie' bashing in trying to introduce myself as it is nice to get the very latest opinions from members anyway IMHO and not be hassled as if I am an 'idiot' or something not knowing how to use GOOGLE as so many forums seem to be taking a bad attitude or delight in p155ing contests.............or have self appointed themselves as moderators

Vernon.......

Attached is some additional pictures I have taken today......haha south France and no sunshine it is more like the UK April weather at the moment :D

Er no. As far as I know Jeff is the only Moderator.

The Delete button only appears on my own messages of course.

It doesn't pay to be too specific in Search request, unless you find that there are too many results to handle. Then get more specific.

Since Mick's untimely death the company is often referenced as Sue Miller's or Susan Miller

~~~
So I get 136 links from on onsite search for
miller Cv shafts
But I get 81 links from
mick miller cv shafts
and 55 links from
mick miller cv driveshafts
Is your 'category' choice set to ALL ?
~~~~~~

No this is not Newbie bashing, I often find the most specific old messages in answer to questions if I have time, but If I don't have time, I post the search results on the assumption that the questioner had not done an appropriate search. In fact I hadn't even looked at your message count and did not realise that you were new, even though you said so in your first line, sorry. I merely assumed you were a longish time member having difficulty with the website search function. My answers were to assist you to search rather than specifically to answer about the shafts.

Vernon- Newbie bashing is so last year. We've reformed, honest. :D

The search function is a bit picky. If you search for "Mick Miller CV Driveshafts" in the "Drive Train / Gearbox / Final Drive" section of the forum you'll have better results (33 hits). ...and that's if you use the search box directly after the Post a New Topic button and not the search box in the upper right of the screen. The first search box searches only in the section where it's located.

There is a brief explanation here: questions-f20/advanced-search-t27652.html?hilit=search#p185379 , but I still don't know if I have a handle on it.

Bud...........'Vernon' was me addressing Vernon replying to his request not Vernon signing off........Image

Bill...........thanks for the help...not sure if you are referring to the forum site settings or Google/Windows settings so please help where to check the setting at.

On the bright side a great opportunity to add a couple of more pictures Image

Great looking car, inside and out. I'm not confused on that!

Ah, sorry.

When you do a search on this lotuselan.net site, you type in the words in a box at top of most pages & click magnifying glass,

On the next page that appears, just below the words box is a category drop down list.

I suggest you set it to ALL if it is not already set. Then click the Submit button to redo the search.

I get plenty.

You can also use google which give 226 hits. You just put
site:lotuselan.net
at the end of your search items
e.g. google for [cv shafts site:lotuselan.net]

https://www.google.co.uk/search?client= ... XoOsmlgcAN

Umm... not sure exactly who you are addressing here, Bill. Welcome to the forum, by the way: I'm sure that you will fit in just fine.

Brian thanks for the link,,,,,,,

Bill I can see what I was doing wrong I was using the small search box next to the topic so no wonder I was only getting my own and not the main big search box at the very top of the page. Image

Lots of reading to do now.

Bud..........I am old too, not sure I really should be taking on this sort of work now and as myopia sets in it is hard finding the right ajustable glasses to see the detail close up.......nothing wrong in being confused.........it is just hard when you go to the garage for something and forgot what you went for then have to go back to the car to figure out what you were after in the first place...........Image

Salut Steve

Lovely car ! Mine is early 1971 - one of the first +2S130s - so I can see a lot of detail similarities between yours and mine.

The interior chrome strips look discrete and nice. I'm not so sure about the headrests - though they look well made. I sourced a pair of federal seats for mine; I believe they were used in the US +2S, too. And yes, your interior looks in great condition without any foam sagging.

A couple of questions:

- where did you get your servo sticker ?
- electronic ignition ?
- I suppose the flap on the NS is to cover the starter solenoid, but what is the black box on the OS bulkhead ?
- interesting passenger door pocket - which car is it from ?
- how many underdash switches do you have and what do they do ?
- have you got some kind of door sill protector ?

Steve,
your +2 is drop dead gorgeous. Like many others, I have shafts on the P2's, no problems so far. And getting rid of that rubber band effect on take off is a good thing.

Vernon....

Our cars are probably not that far apart in build time my chassis No. is 2468..........

The stickers for the servo and earth/ground were made when I was working as our company had it's own large decal signwriter machine which we could produce decals for the prototype cars. There are decal companies around still making classic car stickers though. http://www.isaydingdong.co.uk/ourshop/p ... er-15.html

Yes I have Lumenition electronic ignition. I have big hands and regularly get blooded knuckles off the Lotus and the dizzy is a bit buried :mrgreen:

Hey I will forgive the NS and OS :lol: only because I have my car in France at the moment. Yes the flap is covering the starter solenoid terminals. The other side is just another flap over the Lucas RB340 regulator box which is underneath. The problem is the fibreglass body design does not give a water management channel on the bonnet area like many cars and as I still have the original generator/dyno I have the regulator box. When an alternator is fitted the regulator is removed.

Door pocket was from an XJS HE as were the chrome finishing strips and just recovered to match. Only works on passenger side as it interferes with leg/pedal movement on drivers side as I found out and had to remove one side. The interior door trims have been split into three separate parts so easier to remove separately. I removed the door ashtrays at the same time. I also fitted interior roof lights from an XJS as they were much better looking quality than the Lotus ones. Like I said I am not a concours exact follower and have put in changes just as improvements as I restored the car.

The only additional 'underdash' switch I have is a rheostat that is in series with the interior fan so I can slow it down as I still found air flow noise annoying on the two speed switch option. The rheostat allows for a slower running fan giving a quieter noise but still with a gentle flow to the interior. Other than that the other two switches are just the LR8 fog/spot lights which were stanard fit. On the passenger door I have in the recess for LHD boot pull put a push button switch that remote electric opens the boot. I also when I fitted a new facia/dash put some wire loops around the bonnet latches as an additional safety.......seen too many holes cut in these cars to get at stuck closed bonnets and boots.

edit......I just remembered the hole in the trim by the map light where the clock adjustment drive was fed through I did fit a switch as the new replacement clock was adjusted on the dial direct.
I have forgotten what I wired into now......it was either the central door locking so I could remote open the passenger door (no ejector seats back then) or maybe I wired a test for the circuit for the alarm siren...I will have to check it out as I have forgot now which I ended up doing but it was only a push switch to fill the hole up neatly. Now that has reminded me I have a few of those NOS map lights I must search those out.

Yes I have clear heavy vinyl sill protectors....not that they would have afforded much protection for the stilleto heels of the 70's the ladies wore but now as it is hush puppies and trainers not sure the need is so great today :roll: ........I can't PM as a newbie yet but I will explain where they came from and how when I can. They may be available still today now though.

With respect to the drivers seat which looked awful and totally flat, actually I found the foams were fine and it was the material liner underneath the seat squab that had just rotted and come away from the retention rail that gives the seat its deep recess shape. I ended up just sewing in a new liner and it looks fine again.

Steve
