Hello,
I have a ZF gearbox originally on a Scimitar Coupe (1996 straight 6)
I'm told is can fit a Lotus, but I don't know which one. It's a 4 speed box.
Can anyone help? It is worth anything?
Thanks
Nick

Type 14 elite, you should have no problem selling it on. David

I can't image that the ZF S4-12 that was fitted as an option to the Type 14 Elite from perhaps 1959 to 1963 would be the same as that fitted to a 1996 Scimitar. Does it look like the attached? I don't think Scimitars were made as late as 1996.

I had a quick look on the net and I think it's a Scimitar 996 model made in 1964, but the ZF was mated to the back of a six cylinder engine and had an overdrive option so I don't think it's going to the be same as the Elite box - I could be wrong though.

Is it a ZF 5 speed (ZF S5-18/3) or 4 speed? 4 speed ZF were fitted to some early elite
. The S5 will work in an elan with the correct bellhousing and shift setup. They are avaiable with 1;1 fifth or .795 fith.

James

Later Note: Sorry upon review, i see it's a 4 speed

Is the car a Scimitar or Sabre? My 1964 Sabra GT has the same ZF gearbox that was used in the Type 14. It has the same ratios as the close ratio Elan, 2.53 first, etc. Must have been where Colin got the idea for the early Elan transmission's ratios.
