Hi Alex, I have tried several times to send you a pm but it won't work. The jist of the message was as follows. I recently bought the sleeved nut and bush from Paul Matty but they prewarned me that the nut appeared to be too big to fit inside the bush. The sleeved part of the nut measures 0.436" diameter by 0.590" long and I think it is threaded 5/16" UNF. Could you tell me how this compares to your ones? Many thanks, William.

Hi William,

Shame the PM's are not working...

Try ... [email protected]

The dimensions I got from Johns drawings..

The diameter that fits into the rubber bush is just under 11 mm Its about 10.98. By Very near guage...
The length is 15.5 mm . They are taped 5/16" UNF...

Sizes can be custom made if you want. Just let me know what you need or indeed send me your rubber bush and I will custom fit it.

Any good?

Alex.

Just checked (John's) drawing that I converted to metric (My machine is calibrated in metric)

John's says 'sleeve' diameter is .434" and length is .610" I put a little clearance on the diameter of the sleeve. Nothing is critical. Unless of course they won't fit the bush. !!

Alex, at some point I may take you up on your kind offer to modify my sleeved nut to fit the bush. However, I think I better wait until I find a gear selector shaft that the gear lever bush fits on to as the gearbox I bought is missing this part. Hopefully I might come across one at the Donington show. Will be in touch. Regards, William

OK.. I have 5 nuts made though so if anyone needs one? I have checked that they fit snuggly into the rubber bush ok. And they are tapped 5/16 UNF. & are supplied with the 22.5mm Diameter 'washer' to limit the movment of the gearstick as per the original shift system.

?6.50 .. delivered.. And ?1.00 for every one sold will go to either BHF or GOSH...

Just trying to help out and help the charities a bit too. Don't all rush at once now...

Alex, would it be possible to measure the overall length of the rubber and metal bush that fits within the gear lever and also the inner bush diameter. The new bush I have recently bought from Paul Matty is shorter in length than the gear lever sleeve that it fits in and I would like to find out if that is correct. Many thanks for any help you can give me on this queery.

I am away from the house right now and also not sure if i have a rubber bush. Will check when we get back later today.

I am sure the bush from pm etc should be fine. I am going to speak soon with Sue Miller to see if she would like me to send her these nuts as I have had zero response this time.. Could be ?50.00 down the drain. If Sue likes the idea then I will ask her to send me a bush to work from, but I am sure they will be dead on using John's drawing.

Still selling a few sets of the window rope - glass fasteners though so will claw back the costs eventually.

The bush is shorter than the sleeve, the thick washers above and below the bush are flush with the end of the sleeve when fitted. The washers need to be within the sleeve to limit the movement allowed by the bush.

Hi John,

Yep, that is clear..

I think William might not have a st'd 4 speed lever here. Awaiting info from him now. I am going to have a look at my 4 speeder to check some info etc..

Cheers.
