Once again Simon, we will have to agree to disagree on this one, but I certainly would not do it your way, and I am sure Jerry will make up his mind, who's ever, or which ever way he is going to tackle the job. Or maybe he has his own ideas about how he will tackle it.

Perhaps he will be good enough to let us know exactly how he goes about it. I for one am just interested, to gain a bit more knowledge.

Only that I have been an Elan owner for over 30 years, close to how long you have been on this earth Simon. So over those 30 odd years, I have gained not a little experience in servicing, repairing, maintaining, and restoring my cars, and that is what I was trying to get over in that comment, but it obviously went over your head. No harm done though.

Hi all

Just a quick update, as the engine and box were out of the car i removed the bellhousing and took it to an engine machinist I know who Arc welded up the dodgy threads using a nickel rod which prevented having to heat up the cast housing, it was then re-drilled and tapped with the correct 1/4UNC and the engine/box is now in the car at long last.
