Problems with 1st and reverse gears

I have learnt something today, and its only 9 o clock. I was aware that there were several different lengths of pushrod for master cylinders, most being obviously far to long in our applications. But I did not think, or had not thought through, that a slightly, namely 1/4" difference, in the pushrod length, would alter the bite position of the clutch.
In one of my cars, the bite is close to the floor, and as you said, you had goten used to it, as I had. Now, if I want to change that, I know what to look for. Thanks for posting your experience in that matter.
