5 Speed speedo drive gear

The speedo drive gear in the 5 speed lotus gearbox I plan to fit over the winter is green (24 teeth).
From the manual - the green drive gear in the 4 speed is for a 3.77 diff.
I have 3.54 diff and the speedo is accurate ? from which I assume it has a black gear.
Are the 4 & 5 speed drive gears common?
So if the gears are common all I have to do is swap them over before I fit the 5 speed ? correct????
Also, how long does the 5 speed cable need to be fit the Elan?

Sounds logical to me,but then you know lotus?...I think I got away with using the 4 speed cable when I changed mine over but they are supposed to be four or five inches longer
