Seems like a little contradiction here, you say the input shaft is locked but you can select all the gears and see the gears turning if you turn the output shaft.
Thats not possible, if the output shaft turns and the input is locked then it is never in a gear. The forward gears are all constant mesh so if you can see them turning and the layshaft is turning then the input shaft cannot be meshed with the layshaft
maybe the reverse gear set is jammed with the input ?

hi all,

just to give you an update regarding the gearbox, i decided to take the engine back out and strip the gearbox and replace the bearings.

when stripped, i couldnt find anything obvious however the bearings were replaces anyway.

when re-assesmbled the box is working fine!
