I fitted them 3 years ago and 10,000 miles have gone by. No issues.
If you want a daily driver a CV conversion is the way to go. I hated the "character" and "charm" of those doughnuts. Col's, RDs, Miller, and the rest of the conversions have made many Elans owners happy.

I do not have a link. The article is on the August 2009 issue of AutoWeek. The title is "1970 Lotus Elan plus 2. The Family Lotus" by Bruce Sweetman. It is in the section "Escape Roads," page 41. I mentioned Col's CVs (as well as this forum) but that info did not make it into the article. It is short but it is funy.

Hi all
Thanks for your many points.I can assume that any of the mentioned shafts are good and geting away from both rubber joints is better than keeping the one.
I too ran my lotus for a year as an everyday car,to be honest with very minor faults, none mechanical, only the alternator went, cheep to fix.although the electrics as a whole were a bit 'poor'
I hope which ever i go for can keep her one the road for as long as poss,
Paul

Greg: I hope you are doing well. AutoWeek recently updated it's archives and the story on my Elan is now online. Thought you would like to know.
